PDO

Over the years, PDO (polydioxanone) has been used in a wide range of medical fields, from orthopedics and pediatric surgery to maxillofacial surgery. Nowadays, it is successfully used in cosmetology for face rejuvenation, skin lifting and tightening.

PDO is a biodegradable synthetic polymer that the threads are made of, and this material gets more popular due to its safety. The procedure of insertion is quite simple, the results are stable, side effects are minor and complication rate is very low.

PDO biodegradation occurs through a process of hydrolysis over a time period from 6 to 9 months, while the duration of the aesthetic results continues for up to 12 months. 

PLLA 

Poly-L-Lactic acid has been used as tissue regeneration material for more than 30 years, as well as surgical suture material. It was approved by the FDA in 2009 as an injectable rejuvenating treatment for the face. PLLA polymer is extracted from Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) which is known for its absorbability and biodegrability,

Nowadays PLLA threads have become more and more popular due to long-term collagen formation, and practitioners can use them for restoring tissue volume and rejuvenating the skin of the face.

PLLA biodegradation occurs through the process of hydrolysis in the period from 6 to 9 months, while the aesthetic duration of the results lasts from 12 to 18 months. 

PCL 

Originally an FDA approved surgical suture material, PCL (Polycaprolactone) is widely used in mesothreads production worldwide. This material stimulates the collagen formation of the types 1 and 3, and the mesothreads made from PCL are able to correct signs of facial ageing, such as volume loss and facial oval weakness, providing an immediate long lasting natural effect.

PCL biodegradation occurs during hydrolysis during the period of time from 6 to 9 months, while aesthetic duration of the results remain from 18 to 24 months. PCL mesothreads are softer than PDO and PLLA, and last longer than any other thread.

Regardless of the cannula size Velancia Press Cog threads hold a thicker thread inside the cannula for better attachment to the tissue and creating a solid framework.

Collagen formation occurs around the threads and their cogs, producing a lifting effect. The PLACL thread biodegrades completely within 6 - 9 months through the process of hydrolysis, leaving the final products H₂O and CO₂. 

Velancia Double from Koru Pharma is an amazing breakthrough in modern thread lifting. The uniqueness of the threads lies in their structure: two threads with multidirectional notches are fastened together in the form of a mesh placed into a cannular-carrier.
